Selinsgrove Brewfest 2014

Well, there was a relatively low turnout by Forestry folks this year. But, since I've had several requests for a photo, I'll post the only one I have...

Jean Bonnet Tavern - Bedford, PA

Well, it's been a while since last we posted. One reason - we take our own advice! We've revisited a few of the places we've written about in the past, and there really isn't any reason to do it again. Also, not everyone is doing their job! At least three of us can post on here, fellas...!

Anyway, last week there was a bit of an incident south of Bedford, and during the final stages we had a little free time to look up a good place for an After Action Refreshment. It happened to be the Jean Bonnet Tavern.

I'll start off simply by stating that it is very nice. Not uppity-nice, it just has good atmosphere. We weren't the only ones in the bar, but, if it weren't for the Stanley Cup playoffs, we may well have been. Not a late-night place; last call was at 11pm on Wednesday night.

There was a pretty good beer selection, including some house beers that are brewed by Marzoni's. I had the house pale, and it was pretty good. I could go through the whole beer list, or I could just show you:

We didn't get to eat, having already been fed by the community at the firehouse. however, Charlie and Rick have eaten there before, and claim they had great meals (both seafood, not that that's all they have). Additionally, other folks from the area have nothing but good things to say about Jean Bonnet's.

It seems that the dining room is upstairs, and the bar is on the first floor. If you plan on taking a large group in for dinner, and you want to eat in the bar, it may be a good idea to give the place a call and make some reservations. The bar area isn't overly large, but you'll be able to get a few foresters in there....

Until next time,
